Derek Anthony Redmond (born September 3, 1965) is a former British athlete who competed in track and field. While competing, he set the British record for the 400 metres sprint and won gold medals in the 4×400 metres relay at the World Championships, the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games, among other achievements. His professional career, on the other hand, was marred by a succession of injuries. A standing ovation greeted him after his performance in the 400 metres semi-final at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, when he suffered a hamstring injury. He finished the race limping, but with help from his father managed to complete a whole circuit of the track. After being the subject of one of the International Olympic Committee’s ‘Celebrate Humanity’ videos, as well as being used in Visa advertisements as an illustration of the Olympic spirit and appearing in Nike’s “Courage” commercials in 2008, the incident has become a well-remembered moment in Olympic history.Derek Redmond Net Worth : $ 850,000
